Welcome to my website for 2014
I, first, want to send my appreciation to all those who listened to, friended, loved, hugged, played with, supported and bought my music in 2013. It was quite a year and to be honest so satisfying that it brought me much joy. I have no regrets with the way things unfolded and the opportunities that I had.
In this new year, the focus..musically.. is on a new cd and expanding our horizons….if anyone out there is listening…we…my great band and I….deliver a great show of authentic female blues in the tradition of Koko Taylor, Bonnie Raitt with “a touch of Memphis Minnie on the side” Vancouver Folk Festival.
I really would like to get to Europe and the United States so..I am putting it out there.
My other hat…living in service has brought me to begin a new initiative for sector of the community population. Seniors make up 53% of the downtown eastside community in Vancouver and we are witnessing a hidden crisis. I have begun the Downtown Eastside Elders Resource Sanctuary which will provide much-needed programming and opportunity for this often ignored group who have a wealth of knowledge to share.
I also have returned to the board of the grass-roots arts organization that I started five years ago; the Downtown Eastside Centre for the Arts with an exciting new plan that will be revealed in the very near future.
If anyone would like more information about either of these projects or would like to donate funds in general or to sponsor a specific program, please feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Any donation over $50.00 will receive a tax receipt.
The following is my calendar to date.
FEB 5 HOMEGROUND FESTIVAL BLUE LOVE WITH MICHAEL CREBER 5:30 OPPENHEIMER PARK
FEB 12 BLACK HISTORY MONTH/SONGS OF THE CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT 7:00P.M.
FEB 15 BLACK HISTORY MONTH/SONGS OF THE CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT 7:00 SFU/WOODWARDS
FEB 21 BLACK HISTORY MONTH/SPEAKING OF FREEDOM ST/ ANDREWS’ WESLEY CHURCH 7:30
APRIL 13 SISTERS OF SOUL KAY MEEK THEATRE 8:00 p.m.
Hope to see some of you at one of these performances. I wish you a year filled with opportunity and joy.
in peace, Dalannah Gail Bowen
Hi to all,
We are happy to share a quick reminder that tomorrow Sunday December 22 is the 28th Annual Blues For Christmas here in Vancouver British Columbia.
With an afternoon and evening show you have two chances to see some of Vancouver’s best blues artists who all donate their time to make this musical event a success. It is a wonderful day and night of blues and we would love to see you there.
Please check www.bluesforchristmas.com for all the information…….see you there.
Hi to all and “thank you” for checking out my calendar and info page.
It has been a busy time as I continue to explore the wonderful world of music and my community
I took time for a retreat of five days with three in silence as I feel it is always good to take time to go inside. Fortunately, the result was that I have the majority of songs for the new cd completed. The plan is to record in the new year in late January/February. …so excited about that.
I also had the pleasure of being successfully nominated as one of Vancouver’s 30 Inspiring Women which is such an honor. I am so grateful to those who have supported and guided me, stuck by me(through thick and thin…and it did get pretty thin there for a while) and who have become so important to me in this life.
This month we will be presenting the 28th year of our annual Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society event…..Blues For Christmas Who knew when I started this event that we..the Vancouver blues community without whom there would be no show… would still be going strong. This year we are changing it up to allow the opportunity to spotlight some young artists that we think have a bright future in the blues world. Please go to www.bluesforchristmas.com and click tickets tonight for all the information.
it is also festival submission time and I would love to expand my horizons if anyone is listening out there. We do put on a great show; powerful energetic and reviews and all things my music can be checked out www.dalannahgailbowen.com.
Two days ago was the passing of someone I revered; Nelson Mandela. This gentle man who walked so unselfishly and humbly on this earth and who gave/lived his life for others. May his memory be honored by each of us taking another step towards recognizing that we are all connected and pay attention to how we do what we do for ourselves, for our friends. for our families and for this human race.
I wish each and every one of you rich Christmas filled with peace, joy and love
in peace Dalannah Gail Bowen

Thanks for your continued support and the opportunity to share the music
Hi to all,
I thought it was time to check in as it is amazing how quickly the time goes and I want to make sure that I keep you informed..within reason…smiles.
So far, I have had one of the best summers…… musically…in a long time. the Vancouver International Jazz Festival and the Vancouver Folk Music Festival had to be high points of the summer with many other musical performances following suit. The VFMF offered me the opportunity to work with Martha Redbone and Kinnie Starr, two women at the top of their creative capability which was so inspiring that I now want to start on my next recording project.
it also allowed me to really work the tunes from my latest cd with my boys who really make makin’ the music such a pleasure.
Fortunately, the latest stats from the Roots & Music Report have been released and our cd “Them Menz” is sitting at #17. Roots Music Report is the bible of roots music which includes folk, traditional..such as celtic, etc and blues.
Rating just the blues genre, we are at #4. I also just found out that we are on rotation 2 to 3 times in every 24 hour period on Galaxy FM.
I want to take the time to express my gratitude as all of you have no idea what this means to me..thank you so much.
I am off to sundance , a traditional ceremony for ten days and when I come back we shall see what the future holds.
Also, you can still download free songs at www.reverbnation.com/dalannahgailbowen. My one request is that you become a fan
Please take care, hug someone you love and I wish you all the best for the rest of the summer.
in peace, Dalannah
